Hatley Castle – Victoria’s Royal Gem

Hatley Castle: Victoria’s Royal Gem

If you’ve never been to Hatley Castle in Victoria, you’re in for quite a treat! As one of the few historic buildings we have here on the west coast, it’s like taking a step back into a time of elegant parties, formal dinner jackets and scenes of a by gone era.

The Castle was built as a country residence for James Dunsmuir, son of the former Premier, Robert Dunsmuir between 1908 and 1909. It sits on a 260-hectare estate surrounding the large castle which used to serve as the Royal Roads Military College. It is now a popular destination for weddings seeking a grandeur that can be found nowhere else.

The wood panelled rooms and large fireplaces give the interior a naturally warm atmosphere in contrast to the heavy stone of the exterior. The beautiful gardens which bloom in all their glory, around mid-May, is best savoured on a relaxing stroll around the property.

It’s the perfect setting for weddings, photoshoots and family portraits, it has something for everyone.

Terminal City Club – A Jewel in History

TERMINAL CITY CLUB
837 West Hastings Street
Vancouver, British Columbia · V6C 1B6

Vancouver was an exciting place to be in 1892. The Canadian Pacific Railway, completed in 1881, tied British Columbia to the rest of Canada and Vancouver was becoming one of the great seaports of the world. In this exciting time of new business opportunities, the city mayor and a group of entrepreneurs formed a businessman’s club which eventually came to be what we now know as the Terminal City Club.

Today, the club occupies a modern, multi-functional high-rise in the heart of Vancouver’s financial district. Terminal City Club has always been at the heart of Vancouver’s business, both literally and figuratively; its past and present members include some of the city’s biggest movers and shakers. There is no better place in Vancouver to meet people and make connections that can have a lasting impact upon you, your business, and the city itself.

In 2008, the club went under a $3 million dollar renovation to update and restore the overall look of the club and restaurants. Its crowning jewel is the original 1892 stained glass dome towering over the grand entrance to the main ballroom. This piece, and many others, we incorporated into the new building when it moved back in the 1990’s.

Boasting many options for events and weddings, the Club has an array of rooms and ballrooms to suit any need. One of my favourite features is the north-facing terrace which provides a wonderfully refreshing shaded area for those hot summer days. Sip on one of the many in-house creations made by their house bar-tends or sample the fine dining from their executive chef. The Terminal City Club really is a beautiful venue, both inside and out and is worth a visit to experience over 100 years of tradition and excellence.

When looking to connect with the Terminal City Club, Andrea Miller, Megan Powell and Carly Anderson will be happy to meet with you to show you around and connect for your client’s next event.
