Four Seasons Hotel Wedding

Four Seasons Hotel Wedding by SoWedding

This Four Seasons Hotel wedding was captured by the very talented team at SoWedding. I’m so thankful for the Moda family because we get the opportunity to meet so many amazingly talented people who we may have never crossed paths with. Having been in the industry for more than a decade, it’s easy to get caught up in your own little circle of friends and not venture out too far. We had the pleasure of meeting Chermaine Wu from SoWedding earlier this year and I’m so glad we did. They have traveled for local and destination weddings and I spent the better part of the morning just happily browsing their beautiful videos and photos so we thought to share this beautiful Four Seasons Hotel wedding with you! Enjoy!

Best view in Vancouver is at the iconic Science World, located in False Creek. I had the pleasure of taking a tour with Sales Manager, Christina Coomer, who has worked at the facility for more than 10 years.

Christina-Coomer-Science-World“Science World is more than just an iconic dome full of interactive and educational exhibits and programming. Our recent expansion has resulted in the creation of our Green Roof terrace. Fast becoming one of Vancouver’s more popular venues for weddings and other memorable events, the terrace overlooks the tranquil waters of False Creek and is framed by Vancouver’s prestigious skyline. The Green Roof is home to a manicured green space with flowers, shrubs and trees that add that touch of nature to complement the breathtaking view. Come down and see for yourself why we are such a popular event destination.”

I agree, it was an amazing space to be in and one of the most perfect for a sunset with the view of Vancouver and False Creek glittering in the background. They are well equipped for rain or shine with their massive event tent so this beautiful view can be enjoyed no matter what. Having hosted many prominent events, the staff and facilities are seasoned experts and look forward to hosting your next event.

Vancouver Persian Wedding at Fairmont Pacific Rim

Persian Wedding at the Fairmont Pacific Rim

Fairmont Pacific Rim Persian Wedding with Alnaz and Hossein.  The Fairmont Pacific Rim is a wonderfully contemporary hotel, focused on the rustic beauty of BC, interlaced with some of the most expensive, not to mention beautiful and interesting marble I’ve ever seen. The Emerald ballrooms is floor to ceiling windows and is such a great place to shoot as the late summer sun keeps the room bright and light. Morning preparations were held at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Photography By: Jasalyn Thorne Photographers

Persian weddings are one of our favourites for the pure fact that they love beautiful details. Everything, from their gown, attire, jewels and the intricate pieces which adorn the wedding Sofreh. Each piece of the Sofreh has a different blessing for the couple in their new life together. Often times, the pieces and food comes straight from the homeland for true authenticity.

I must say, I don’t think I’ve seen a more unique decor feature, Alnaz had crystals placed in the overhead pot-lights and they just lit the place up, genius!!! I always say, adding accent lights and coloured lights just give the room so much more sparkle.

Persians know how to celebrate and I LOVE that everyone participates, EVERYONE dances! A great addition to the night was a special performance by a very talented belly dancer. Not to mention the food was AMAZING!

Hatley Castle – Victoria’s Royal Gem

Hatley Castle: Victoria’s Royal Gem

If you’ve never been to Hatley Castle in Victoria, you’re in for quite a treat! As one of the few historic buildings we have here on the west coast, it’s like taking a step back into a time of elegant parties, formal dinner jackets and scenes of a by gone era.

The Castle was built as a country residence for James Dunsmuir, son of the former Premier, Robert Dunsmuir between 1908 and 1909. It sits on a 260-hectare estate surrounding the large castle which used to serve as the Royal Roads Military College. It is now a popular destination for weddings seeking a grandeur that can be found nowhere else.

The wood panelled rooms and large fireplaces give the interior a naturally warm atmosphere in contrast to the heavy stone of the exterior. The beautiful gardens which bloom in all their glory, around mid-May, is best savoured on a relaxing stroll around the property.

It’s the perfect setting for weddings, photoshoots and family portraits, it has something for everyone.

Rosewood Hotel Georgia

After undergoing a full renovation and reopening in 2011 as Rosewood Hotel Georgia, the hotel has been returned to its former grandeur with the additional elegance of extensive amenities and the impeccable service of Rosewood. Over the years they have hosted such classic stars as Katharine Hepburn, John Wayne, the Rolling Stones and including such royalty as HRH Edward, Prince of Wales.

Hotel Georgia: The Golden Age Reborn

Two of the most important things when it comes to venues I’ve found, is the natural look of the structure and the food. We have been attending weddings at the newly renovated Rosewood Hotel Georgia since it’s re-birth in 2011 and have not been disappointed. After months of painstaking labour to return the structure to it’s former glory of the intricate decor from it’s first days open in the 1920’s, Rosewood Hotel Georgia has been awarded numerous times for it’s outstanding service and attention to detail.  It has been named on such prestigious lists from Condé Nast Traveler US, Travel + Leisure, US News & World Report and has also received the Forbes Five Star Award.

Nicole Folino, the Catering Sales Manager has worked with hundreds of clients over the last few years, building and hosting some of the city’s top weddings and events. In addition to the ornate crown jewel of the Spanish Ballroom, they also offer smaller function rooms, still keeping with the style of the hotel’s original décor.  One of our favourites is the Tudor Room as it offers unobstructed views of the Vancouver Art Gallery and allows for natural sunlight to pour in, filling the room with a beautiful glow. Other modern options are the Bowden Room with it’s mirrored details and floor to ceiling glass windows or the outdoor bar, Reflections.

With event options ranging from 35-350 persons, there is surely something to fit all occasions.

The Wooden Spoon Co.

General Manager, Graham Racich is passionate about creating an enjoyable family experience. Local celebrity chefs Rob Feenie and Vikram Vij are also known to stop in for a delicious brunch. You know it’s good when you have other chefs as regulars!

Wedding Brunch: The Perfect Solution

You have family coming in from overseas, family staying with you while the wedding festivities take place and then even more family coming over for a reunion after the wedding day, what do you do with all of them? You take them out for a savoury brunch at The Wooden Spoon Co. located in sunny White Rock, just steps away from the iconic White Rock Beach. Pre or post wedding brunch is the perfect solution to feeding the mob during wedding activities. If you’re looking for the perfect family place with grown-up flavours and even a great kids’ room where the little ones can play while you enjoy your breakfast in peace, then this is the perfect place!

Opening its doors only last year by seasoned restaurateurs Peter Raptis  and Ray Staniscia (Sip Lounge & The Refinery), they have already made quite the name for themselves regularly seating celebrity chefs Rob Feenie and Vikram Vij. The exciting menu sports such delicious items as their famous Breakfast Poutine, a heaping portion of house cut fries, crispy buttermilk jalapeños, in-house made BBQ pulled pork, traditional Montreal cheese curds, 2 eggs, salsa ranchera and house made gravy. It’s the perfect combination of salty and sweet. As a poutine lover, I have had my fare share and this is by far my favourite!

From left to right: Chef Brad Green and General Manager Graham Racich

Some of the unique features you’ll notice right away is the homey feel of the restaurant. Using a lot of reclaimed and reused materials from the old restaurant, they have given a modern look with the white walls, black chairs and minimalist décor yet warm up the room with the beautiful textures of the old barn wood panelling seen throughout the restaurant.

One of the unique elements to Chef Brad’s cuisine is that he endeavours to impart very pronounced flavours and spice, without the intense heat you would normally experience, the perfect flavours you want for first thing in the morning. Everything from the brines, the smoking, the sauces, everything they can they make in-house with their own unique twist. and their signature cocktails pair effortlessly with the menu and are sure to delight. My favourite is the Mom’s Breakfast with house-made red wine syrup with just the right amount of kick!

Why not start your day with their French Press coffees from Salt Spring Island coupled with the smoked salmon breakfast: French-style scrambled eggs, capers, chives, dill and goat cheese topped with fresh  BC smoked salmon on a buttery croissant.

If you are a breakfast lover, I know your family will enjoy the experience and cuisine at The Wooden Spoon! They are open for Breakfast and Brunch Mon-Tues from 10-3pm, open into the evening for dinner Wed-Fri from 10-10pm, then Sat 9-10pm and Sun 9-3pm.

Some of the menu Items I got to savour while on the interview. The poutine is a MUST!

Breakfast Poutine: House cut fries, crispy buttermilk jalapeños, BBQ pulled pork, Montreal cheese curds, home-made grey, 2 eggs and salsa ranchera.

S’more: House made Marshmallow fluff served hot and gooey over rich chocolate ganache over a base of graham cracker crumble.

Spoon Burger: garlic aioli, house made tomato jam, maple bacon, fried egg, aged cheddar, pickles, crispy onion ring, arugula smothering a locally sourced beef & pork patty.

Spoon Caesar: Twist on a classic caesar featuring our special mix, spiked BBQ sauce with Dijon, maple syrup, hickory smoked bacon, crispy onion ring and served with your choice of Vodka or Bourbon.

Start your day with delicious French Press coffee from Salt Spring Island.

Mom’s Breakfast: Their take on a fuzzy peach Belini with in-house made red wine syrup.

The Wooden Spoon Co. is a hip brunch & bistro with character, located in the heart of uptown White Rock. Is it a bistro? Is it a brunch spot? We will let you decide.

Join the rabble-rousers and cantankerous few that post up at The Wooden Spoon Co. patrons find nothing “classic” here except the ingredients. The Wooden Spoon Co. food philosophy is focused on fresh, house-made dishes crafted from locally sourced ingredients. Everything from the breads and pastas to the butchery and sauces, all products are made in-house with quality and consistency.

We have held numerous industry events here and have been impressed every time with not only the venue but the quality of the service and excellence in the cuisine.

Modern, Luxury and Green!

Everyone in the wedding industry was waiting on pins and needles for this shinning gem to open it’s doors shortly before it would host the world for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Vancouver had not had a new feature venue open for some time and you could tell there was a lot riding on this new Fairmont.

It would embrace a truly west coast flavour, everything from the decor to the cuisine was carefully selected to not only showcase materials and technology from around the world but it would be one of the greenest hotels in Vancouver. Their cuisine embraces purchasing local, organic, Fair Trade and sustainable food products wherever possible, including utilizing organic or biodynamic wines, local purveyors and on-site herb gardens. Our culinary operation operates a ‘fully scratch’ kitchen committed to creating everything in-house, allowing our chef’s to ensure every bite tastes exactly the way they want. The RawBar is also Vancouver’s first 100% Ocean Wise sushi destination.

They were proudly awarded the 5-Green Key rating within the first year of operation, showing their commitment to minimizing the hotel’s footprint on the planet through various initiatives.

The main tower of the Fairmont Pacific Rim as seen from Cordova St.

What does that mean for the wedding world? It serves as a green-concious choice for couples and people who value taking the extra step to help the environment and aid in keeping our Canadian waters and environment clean and sustainable.

Not only is the hotel a great choice for environment values but the location is second to none. Right downtown on the seawall, it is only steps away from some of Vancouver’s most bustling sectors. A few steps this way and you are in historic Gastown, a few steps this way you’re on the water taking a walk on Vancouver’s famed seawall which encompasses the lush forests of Stanley Park. The views from the tower are perfect for sunset and you can watch the busy harbour as it gears down from the day.

Terminal City Club – A Jewel in History

Catering Sales Manager: Megan Powell (left) & Catering Coordinator: Carly Anderson (right)

TERMINAL CITY CLUB
837 West Hastings Street
Vancouver, British Columbia · V6C 1B6
T 604 681 4121 · F 604 681 9634

Vancouver was an exciting place to be in 1892. The Canadian Pacific Railway, completed in 1881, tied British Columbia to the rest of Canada and Vancouver was becoming one of the great seaports of the world. In this exciting time of new business opportunities, the city mayor and a group of entrepreneurs formed a businessman’s club which eventually came to be what we now know as the Terminal City Club.

Today, the club occupies a modern, multi-functional high-rise in the heart of Vancouver’s financial district. Terminal City Club has always been at the heart of Vancouver’s business, both literally and figuratively; its past and present members include some of the city’s biggest movers and shakers. There is no better place in Vancouver to meet people and make connections that can have a lasting impact upon you, your business, and the city itself.

In 2008, the club went under a $3 million dollar renovation to update and restore the overall look of the club and restaurants. Its crowning jewel is the original 1892 stained glass dome towering over the grand entrance to the main ballroom. This piece, and many others, we incorporated into the new building when it moved back in the 1990’s.

Boasting many options for events and weddings, the Club has an array of rooms and ballrooms to suit any need. One of my favourite features is the north-facing terrace which provides a wonderfully refreshing shaded area for those hot summer days. Sip on one of the many in-house creations made by their house bar-tends or sample the fine dining from their executive chef. The Terminal City Club really is a beautiful venue, both inside and out and is worth a visit to experience over 100 years of tradition and excellence.

When looking to connect with the Terminal City Club, Andrea Miller, Megan Powell and Carly Anderson will be happy to meet with you to show you around and connect for your client’s next event.
